Knotts Boysenberry Festival: A Must Visit for All Foodies

Knott’s Boysenberry Festival! I can’t believe I’ve never been to it before. I only heard about it last December while browsing through Instagram and the foodie in me got all excited. Then it finally happened. I got the chance to try almost all of the 31 Boysenberry Food & Drinks during a Media Tasting at Knotts Berry Farm and then again this weekend when I brought the kids for the start of the Boysenberry Festival. I’d say it’s neck to neck with the Bacon Festival I went to last year.

Check the 2023 Knott’s Boysenberry Festival Food List!

The Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival is one of the best food festivals I’ve been to. Every Boysenberry dish was delicious, even the Fried Alligator (yes, alligator). I brought the kids and invited my cousin and her kids so even though it was quite a scorching hot day at Knott’s Berry Farm, we still had so much fun.

My cousin and I used to travel a lot internationally back when we were single, now that we are moms, it’s all about double strollers, diaper bags, and letting the kids have fun at Knott’s while we enjoy chit chatting in between bites of Boysenberry Flautas and Boysenberry Trifles.

The Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival only runs for 16 days, I wish it’s longer than that. Do you know that all the boysenberries in the world can trace its root back to Knott’s Berry Farm? In the 1930s Walter Knott harvested the boysenberry, a cross between a loganberry, red raspberry, and blackberry, and named the new berry after its originator Rudolph Boysen. Right now, you can purchase the Boysenberry plant at Knotts.

Besides all the yummy food, including the really good Boysenberry wings that I brought home for the hubby. There’s the Beary Tales Pie Kitchen where you can make your own Boysenberry pie as well as have kids enjoy picking Boysenberries and play make-believe in the Boysenberry Kitchen.

The first-ever Boysenberry Pie Eating contest also happened last Saturday. Maybe next time, I’ll join the Boysenberry Icee Float drinking contest and give myself a brain freeze, okay maybe not. But seriously, I highly recommend going. You can get Knott’s Berry Farm discount tickets then you can purchase the food separately but I suggest getting the Boysenberry Festival tasting card at the theme park for only $25 which includes 6 Boysenberry dishes (it’s a lot of food).

Looking for something fun to do this Spring Break, head to Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival. You’re gonna love it. I hope to go back for an Icee Float and Corn on a Cob with Boysenberry Butter, yum oh yum.

  1. I've never been there, but it sounds like a lot of fun. The ice creams, drinks, and fried food would be excellent. I never thought of pairing corn with berries, but it looks so pretty!
