You can stay at Welk Resorts while attending the famous Coachella Music Festival in Indio, to attend the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Cathedral City, or simply to getaway.
Welk Resorts Palm Springs Newly Renovated Rooms
The newly renovated rooms at Welk Resorts had a mid-century flair to it and it was both beautiful and serene. The separate bedroom has a King-sized bed and a huge TV and an equally huge walk-in closet complete with bathrobes. From your bedroom, you can exit to the patio that comes with outdoor recliners and a view of the golf course as adjacent to the resort is the Cathedral Canyon Golf and Tennis Club.
In the living room, you can find a pull-out couch and your own separate TV and a dining set that sits 4. You can also exit out to the patio from here. The rooms at Welk Resorts come with a full kitchen separated by the kitchen bar that is great for those planning to cook during their visit. You can literally find every kitchen tool in that kitchen. On top of the big kitchen appliances, there is a coffee machine, a blender, as well as a toaster. Then they provide all the plates, cups, wine glasses, pots, bakeware, and tools like a masher, whisk, measuring spoons, pretty much – the works!
They also provide a lot of the toiletries that not all hotels typically provide anymore, which I really appreciate. From toothpaste, hotel slippers, shaving set, sewing kit, shower cup, cotton balls, and cotton buds.
The Inspired Lounge at Welk Resorts Palm Springs
During our stay, we spent most of our time at the Inspired Lounge at Welk Resorts where you can play or do activities that vary daily. They are for an additional fee but I highly recommend doing them, it’s a lot of fun! If you don’t want to do any of the activities though, you can still enjoy the pool table, arcade games, ping pong, and foosball, etc.
From the list of many activities offered that day, we chose the Virtual Reality activity, followed by Bingo Wine N’ Cheese night, and an Escape Room activity. Some activities are geared toward adults, some are for the kids, but most are for all ages. Don’t worry about doing the adult activities like Bingo Wine N’ Cheese if you’re traveling with the kids as the kids can be in the same room on a separate area doing crafts just like what our kids did. Our daughter stuffed an animal and brought home a unicorn while the other painted a treasure box, all with the help of the amazing staff of The Inspired Lounge. Before long, the hubby shouted – BINGO! He won!
After we played Bingo, we proceeded to try the Escape Room activity. Our eldest was really so excited to do this activity but I must say we gave up pretty fast, Haha. With the help of the staff (Thanks Lindsay) giving us clues because we were totally clueless, we were able to solve it in the end. For how long? Too long! Haha! It was very memorable though and now we know what to expect when we enter an Escape Room. I highly recommend you give it a try, whether with the family or with friends, it will challenge your investigative ability or lack thereof.
I also recommend doing the VR (virtual reality) activity. All 4 of us did it and it was a lot of fun doing the ski game. I must commend Welk Resorts for providing their resort with good equipment for their lounge. We’ve tried VR before and my daughter cannot have her eyeglass on as it won’t fit, thus she can’t really see anything. At Welk, she didn’t have that problem with their VR equipment. Their Bingo cards were also pretty neat, they were thick and had that quick-release buttons making it easy to play or reset the game, all of the players were pretty impressed (no one has seen that type of Bingo cards before).
Outdoor Fun at Welk Resorts
It is sunny and warm in the Southern California desert for almost the whole year. Everyone visits the greater Palm Springs area to hit the pool and in the middle of Welk Resorts is exactly that. Outside, you can also enjoy a game of giant Connect 4 and bean bag toss or lounge inside your cabana.
There is a snack bar by the pool where we enjoyed some drinks and had an early dinner. If you don’t plan to cook in your room (like we did), come here for burgers and sandwiches. I enjoyed my cheeseburger and strawberry daiquiri. At night, you can also enjoy a dive-in movie by the pool.
There is also Jax Restaurant which is very close to the resort if you wish to have dinner after 6 PM as the snack bar by the pool closes at 6.
Other amenities at the resort include a business center, a gym, and a laundry room.
