This is my favorite musical of all time. It’s such a feel good show that I just have to post this and share with everyone.
The final collaboration between the famous Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Sound of Music won 10 Tony Awards in its original Broadway run, and inspired the five-time Academy Award-winning film starring Julie Andrews. Rose Center Theater brings this beloved musical to the stage featuring classic songs like “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and “Do-Re-Mi.” The story is based on the actual life of Maria von Trapp, who leaves an Austrian convent to serve as governess to the children of a widowed naval officer. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry — only to learn the news that the Captain must go off to war. The film remains the most popular movie musical of all time.
