Between a picky eater and a toddler who can’t sit still, we have to choose wisely on which restaurant to eat at. So back to our short list of places we can dine at as a family – Islands Burgers!!!
Islands offers a wide array of kids’ menu with healthy sides, yummy burgers and salads, fun drink options for me, TVs all around so the hubby doesn’t miss out on basketball and a yummy dessert to end it all. What more can you ask more.
We don’t really need a date night. What we really need right now is a date with the kids. They are growing so fast and we want to spend as much time with them as much as we can. Although I also enjoyed a margarita while we dined at Islands. Win win. I guess Islands is not only kid friendly, they are also parent friendly. LOL.
The kids worked on their activity sheets while I perused through Islands menu. The toddler will actually peeled off the paper cover of her crayons (a fave hobby of hers). We have a box full of crayons without covers on them at home. LOL.
I just found out that Islands have partnered with Crayon Collection to donate used crayons from all 55 of their locations to lower income schools so now I know where to bring our crayons.
Since partnering with the program in 2011, Islands has donated more than one million crayons annually to local elementary schools throughout the southwest U.S.
I would typically order Islands Kilauea Burger (one of my 3 fave burgers ever) but opted to order their Wiqui Waqui BBQ Chicken Salad this time for a change. It’s a must order. Grilled & chilled chicken breast, cheddar & jack cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion & jicama, tossed w/ranch dressing & topped w/tortilla strips, bbq sauce & scallions.
The finale! A Kona Pie that got the kids closer to the table. It’s a Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream & cookie crust topped w/chocolate fudge, whipped cream, roasted almonds & a cherry.
The hubby and I actually want to get a spinach dip as well but we know we’re gonna get full, so we’re like, do we do appetizer or dessert. Dessert it went, per kids request.
