LA Kids City Guide + Chicco Viaro: Stroller and Car Seat Giveaway

disclosure: this is a sponsored post with Chicco. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

My intent when I started this blog was to find and share all the fun things to do in LA with the kids. 6 years, many adventures and two kids later, we’re still not done exploring. Simply put, one can never run out of things to do in LA. There is something for everyone and for every interest. And today, in partnership with Chicco, I’m sharing our LA Kids City Guide: 5 places we love going to and learn why it’s a must visit whether you’re from LA or just visiting.

I also invite you to join our giveaway for a chance to win a stroller and a car seat with base as part of the new Chicco Viaro Travel System. Good Luck and let us know which place you would love to take the kids to.

We are very familiar with the Chicco brand as both kids came home on their very first car ride from the hospital in a Chicco KeyFit Car Seat.

We went to many places with it and when our eldest was a baby, she slept better in her Chicco KeyFit car seat than in her bed, so we’d either be strolling around the mall or driving around to get her to nap.

If you’ve been following me long enough on Instagram though, you’d recall that moment when I got sentimental at Babies R’ Us because I decided to trade our infant car seat to the next stage since they’ve both outgrown it.

So imagine what it was like when our Chicco Viaro Travel System arrived and I saw the exact infant car seat we had was part of it, all the fond memories came back. But this time we get to make new memories with the Chicco Viaro Stroller in tow.

We went around places in LA with it and we’ve also been using it for school pick up and drop offs as big sis’ classroom is so far from the school gate. Like literally the furthest classroom from the gate. Good thing, maneuvering our Chicco Viaro Stroller is easy with its three-wheel design and lightweight aluminum frame. I can literally move it with one hand while I hold big sis’ with my other hand as we try to beat the school bell. LOL.

Chicco’s Viaro is sold as a travel system with Chicco’s #1-rated KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat and also as a stand-alone stroller until children reach the 50 lb. weight limit. It’s so easy to get the car seat in and out of the stroller, I wish I had this travel system before.

We loved it and believed you will too. Now check out all the fun places we recommend taking your kids to:

LA Kids City Guide:

1. Los Arboles/Rocketship Park, Torrance
5101 Cll De Ricardo, Torrance, CA 90505

My husband grew up in Torrance and had he not told me about Rocketship Park, I would not have known about this hidden gem. If you’re not from the South Bay of LA or from Torrance, most likely, you’ve never heard of this place either. You will be surprised when you come up here to see the sweeping view of the entire South Bay and the coast.

This park has been around since the 60’s and they have recently upgraded all the playground equipment yet left the famous rocketship that the kids can climb up to. You can stroll, picnic, play, and enjoy the view. The hubby even tried to fly a kite but it just wasn’t windy enough that day.

I brought our Chicco Viaro Stroller so I don’t have to carry the toddler all the way to the playground from the street parking. With how big the storage is under the stroller, you can also fit all your picnic essentials without bringing an extra wagon.

The weather can be quite unpredictable from up here though, but good thing the multi-position canopy of the Chicco Stroller offered maximum protection from the sun, wind and cold.

Plan a trip here and expect to be amazed. But at the same time, the kids might not let you go home. You’ve been warned. LOL.

2. Aquarium of the Pacific
100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90802

I told the kids we’re going to see Dory. But I had no idea they have one at Aquarium of the Pacific, a few actually.

We love coming here and while the toddler enjoyed touching the rays and watching the penguins swim. My personal favorite is the sea otter swimming on its back. He just looked so relaxed.

This 2-storey aquarium comprises of indoor and outdoor areas. Make sure to plan a full day here to see everything, from big crabs to jelly fish, sharks to almost transparent shrimp. The hubby told the toddler, that’s your favorite (meal). Yikes.

You will also get to touch a lot of the animals, including a shark!

3. South Coast Botanic Garden

26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula, California 90274

South Coast Botanic Garden is one of the first few places I took the kids to when they were still babies and still in their infant car seats. We’d stroll here and as they became toddlers, they enjoyed the garden that was developed around nursery rhymes with plants to match the stories.

The dollhouse and the bridge are the kids favorite. Adjacent to the Children’s Garden is the Discovery Garden with a secret tunnel, worm bin, alphabet garden, butterfly garden, and whimsical characters. During our recent visit, the toddler enjoyed looking at all the butterflies, there were so many that day.

If you go around the whole South Coast Botanic Garden, there will be uphill and downhill slopes but I was able to quickly lock and unlock the stroller with its toe-tap locking brakes when needed.

Some of the paths are unpaved as well but our toddler didn’t complain, her new stroller features EPS energy-absorbing foam as well as a five-point harness for a smooth and secure ride. I wish I can ride on it too, haha. I do recall trying to ride a stroller when I was pregnant, haha.

4. The Grove
189 The Grove Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90036

The Grove offers a mix of fun for both the adults and the kids. There’s a huge musical fountain, a trolley, a cinema, a fun candy store, concerts every now and then and desserts abound from cupcakes to ice creams.

The place is very festive on any given day but even more during the holidays. There are also monthly activities offered to the kids.

After strolling, we found ourselves resting near the Farmer’s Market adjacent to it, which is also a must visit. And the toddler told her big sis, she can ride the stroller.

Big sis’ face lit up from excitement and they shared a drink. The Chicco Viaro stroller can carry 50lbs. and though our 1st grader is on the tall side for it, she was very light and can still used this stroller.

I loved how the Chicco Viaro Stroller has  two cupholders and snack tray in the front for the kids and in the back for the adults by the way. We each get to bring our own drinks.

5. Redondo Beach Pier
100 Fisherman’s Wharf, Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Lucky are all Angelenos that we have access to so many beaches here in LA.

We as a family take advantage of it whether to play in the sand, watch the waves, ride a bike, or stroll to work up a seafood appetite.

It’s free year-round. Besides swimming in the water during the summer, there are festivals, summer concerts, a bike/stroller lane, you name it.

We visited Redondo Beach Pier recently for a stroll before the sunset. The kids enjoyed the pinwheels, listening to the free summer concert at the pier and ending the night with a seafood dinner with their cousins. We obviously forgot to take a group picture as everyone got pre-occupied with the sumptuous meal.

  1. I think this looks amazing! I've heard lots of good thing about Chicco products. I'm expecting Baby #2 and have been looking for a nice travel system like this to put on my registry.

  2. I definitely need to check out the metal rocket park
My husband and I are always reminiscing about old school playground when the metal would burn your butt and you'd get splinters kids just don't know
