My oh my, my face lit up when I saw the Phoenix sign as we turn into the complex where we’re having dimsum. One of my favorite dessert place is now in the South Bay! Phoenix Food Boutique opened a branch in Gardena. And I had no idea they’ve been there for two months now.
We went for dimsum at Sea Empress Seafood Restaurant as originally planned. But this time, I left some room for my favorite black rice with coconut milk at Phoenix. It’s a warm dessert topped with coconut jelly and cold coconut milk. Sweet, smooth, heavenly.

Here’s a few of the other stuff I wanted to try on my next visit:
Tiramisu Glass and Creme Brulee with Berries
Macau Tiramisu & Durian Pudding
Coconut Milk & Taro and Fresh Mango Creme Custard
Mango Pudding, Tropical Tiramisu & Mango Almond Tofu
Black Sesame Pudding & Mixed Almond Tofu
They also sell prepackaged appetizers:
Marinated eggs, marinated tofu and more
The store is small as compared to the other branches I’ve been too. I believe they call this Phoenix Dessert instead of Phoenix Food Boutique and they won’t be serving cooked meals. But I frequent the place for the dessert anyway. So it’s just perfect.
As I was finishing my black rice with young coconut, people are coming in to get the lime drink with barley. Curious..I ordered one to go. It was very refreshing. Was it the summer heat or have I just found a new obsession with fresh lime juice. I seem to prefer lime over lemon now.
Now if only some of my other favorites would open in the South Bay too. Like Porto’s for the guava cream cheese roll & fried banana chips and 85 degrees for the sea salt coffee & yummy pastries.. Please, please, please…That would be heaven.
If your palate is curious now. Here’s the address:
