Today is Bastille Day, the French National Day celebrated every 14th of July. We didn’t get to go to the Bastille Day Festival in Los Angeles, click here. But I did indulged over some parisian crepe.. maybe over indulged.. at Creme de la Crepe.
This tiny restaurant is walking distance to the beach and is always packed. We got lucky and actually got seated immediately when we arrived at noon. Though I’m a big fan of crepes. It was our first time eating at this Redondo Beach branch and I couldn’t decide on what to order. They gave us the breakfast and lunch menu which made it even harder for me to choose. Everything just sounded so good. Do I go for the savory crepe or the dessert crepe? Choices.. choices.. I ended up with both. Lol.
They also have non crepe dishes. And I wanted to order escargot and pate plate for appetizer. But there were only 3 of us, I’d have to get the gal pals to eat with me next time. Service was prompt and we got our orders just in time. The hubby ordered a healthy chicken pesto sandwich. While I ordered a spicy lamb sausage buckwheat crepe with cheese and mushroom gravy sauce. Plus a mango, strawberry, banana, nutella crepe.
The lamb sausage was not that spicy but just right to not overpower the whole dish. The combination of the cheese, sausage and mushroom gravy was yummy but I wish they didn’t put too much gravy so I can still enjoy the taste of the crepe by itself. All their crepes were gluten free by the way.
The pesto sandwich was good but we had better ones. The hubby finished it though and even took a stab at half of my sausage crepe while I shared the dessert crepe with the lil’ one. Guess who ate most of the nutella? Haha.
We did get a chance to experience Bastille Day in Paris during our 2009 trip to Paris(wow, it’s been 4 years). They hold military parade every year at Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, French officials and foreign guests. And have fireworks at Eiffel Tower and more. Here are some pictures:
If you’re not going to Paris anytime soon and just want some crepe to go with your parisian palate. Here’s Creme de la crepe’s address: 1708-1/2 S Catalina Ave, Redondo Beach, CA 90277. Enjoy and let me know what else is good if you get to try it out.
