Cerreta Chocolate Factory Tour

If you love chocolates and going on factory tours, I would suggest adding Cerreta Chocolate Factory Tour to your list of Fun Things to do in Phoenix with Kids. You get to learn about the 4 generations of candy-making business of the Cerreta family. Meet Jim Cerreta (the founder), sample tons of sugar treats, make your own chocolate pizza, and shop for tons of chocolate varieties before heading home.

CERRETA CHOCOLATE FACTORY TOUR

Cerreta Candy Company is located in Glendale, Arizona. It’s west of Phoenix so we drove to it on our way back to California from our quick getaway in Phoenix as the last stop in our Phoenix itinerary.

The Cerreta chocolate factory tour is free except for the chocolate pizza making that your kids can do for $12 after the free special guided tour of their family-owned candy factory.

The 30-minute guided tours are offered Monday through Friday, One Morning tour at 10 am and One Afternoon tour at 1 pm, FREE of charge!

Not only do you get to learn about the history of the family of candy makers but you also get to meet the founder – Jim Cerreta, who to this day is still very much involved in the candy-making business.

He was handing our treats for everyone taking the Cerreta chocolate factory tour when we visited. My fave was their peanut brittle, it was really good so we end up buying more to take home.

Besides learning about the company and the family, you also get to see candy making in action including a replica of the chocolate conveyor in the I Love Lucy series.

If you wish to do the chocolate pizza-making after the tour, I would suggest allowing more time in your itinerary as it would take some time for the chocolate to harden.

After (or before) the tour, go around the store to buy candies and chocolates, they weigh them for your purchase for you to enjoy on your ride home. Have fun!
