We visited Monterey County over the summer and it was cold. Imagine being on the coast yet it’s actually to cold to swim at the beach. I believed that’s how it is there year round. If you’re planning on visiting Monterey with the kids and would want to dip in the pool and have more space for the family, stay at Springhill Suites in Marina, CA. It is located 14 minutes away north of the City of Monterey. The hotel is new, it’s in front of a huge new retail complex, the rooms are spacious (they are suites), they have a good breakfast spread, and best of all – they have an indoor pool! The pool is not that big, like resort big but to have an indoor pool in this area is great and we were the only ones there when we went for a dip even if the hotel was full.
When we visited Monterey, we initially stayed at Holiday Inn Express at the Historic Cannery Row. That’s a great option if you wish to be steps away from all the attractions available at Cannery Row. But if you don’t mind a little drive – Springhill Suites in Marina is a better option for families. We stayed for 2 nights as we explored Monterey County more and didn’t mind the drive from the hotel down to visiting cities like Pebble Beach and Carmel.
