If you’re looking for a hotel near Sequoia National Park, stay in Marriott in Visalia. The city of Visalia is 45mins. away from the Sequoia National Park gate and 1hr. away from Kings Canyon National Park. Visalia Marriott at the Convention Center is located in Downtown Visalia where you can easily access the transit center, restaurants, shops, and so much more. It’s not far from the freeway yet it’s pretty quiet giving you easy access to the freeway for your trip to the National Parks.

We arrived late during our stop in Visalia. Checking in to the hotel was easy and that enabled us to catch our 7PM dinner at Little Italy Italian Restaurant in downtown. Our room was very clean and it also just recently underwent some remodeling so it looks very contemporary. We had a good sleep after our 5hr. drive into the city which enabled us to get our energy back for the activity-filled 2nd day in Visalia.
Visalia Marriott offers a breakfast buffet spread plus Starbucks coffee but for our 1st morning, we went to dine at Valhalla Restaurant – a Danish restaurant nearby. We went back to the hotel to grab the car and proceeded with our activities starting with a trip to ImagineU Children’s Museum and Visalia Adventure Park. We went back to our hotel for a quick nap followed by a really late lunch at Blaze Pizza then a show at the Peña B. Planetarium. After the sun has set, we went back to Downtown Visalia for a late dinner at Pita Kabob.

We had a restful sleep once again on our 2nd night but sadly we had to wake up early for our trip to Sequoia. After a quick breakfast buffet at the hotel, we were in the car by 845AM. Thanks to Visalia Marriott for getting our lunch pack ready so early so we can have food while we’re in Sequoia National Park. There’s really no food there and with all the steps to get to the General Sherman Tree, you’re gonna be needing it so do order food in advance.
If you have more time, Visalia Marriott has an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. You can also hit the gym, do your laundry, or print something at the business center. For us, we were mostly outside eating all the good food in Visalia then heading back to the hotel to give in to our comfy bed.
Thanks to Visalia Marriott for their hospitality, their location made it easy for us to walk around Downtown Visalia at any time of the day. We look forward to another visit in the near future. Maybe next time we’ll get to try the other restaurants in downtown including the Picnic Sandwich Shop who is celebrating 51 years in the restaurant business this year.
