Headed to Coachella Music Festival this weekend or Palm Springs sometime soon? I would recommend visiting Shields Date Garden in Indio while you’re in the Coachella Valley for a tour of their garden, yummy food from their Cafe and their famous Date Shake.
We were in Palm Springs some weeks back for a quick weekend getaway from LA and it’s really a nice restaurant to visit if you can drive to it.
We had brunch there with the kids and got to explore their store that offers various dates, snacks and other merchandise before heading to the back for alfresco dining.
We also toured their garden to burn off everything we ate. Check out pictures from our visit to Shields Date Garden below and everything yummy about the place.
Date Shake. I love dates and loved this. I didn’t finish it though. It can get sweet and since we were going to eat, I didn’t gulp it down in spite of the desert heat to save room. I would suggest trying it by splitting with a friend so you won’t get full.
Chips and Guacamole. Freshly made. You can eat alfresco or indoors at Shields Date Garden. They do not start serving lunch until 11 AM, so plan ahead if you want the breakfast or lunch menu.
The Date Burger at Shields Date Garden is a must order. It doesn’t look good in the picture but tasted really juicy and yummy.
You can tour the garden at Shields if you eat there. Just show your receipt. You’d have to pay an admission fee unto the garden for a self-guided tour of it if you’re not eating there.
The garden path at Shields winds through 17 acres of their date farm. It depicts 14 scenes and 23 statues that chronicled Christ’s life.
Shields Date Garden, 80-225 U.S. Highway 111, Indio, CA 92201-6599
