Enchanted Forest of Light at Descanso Gardens is a nighttime, interactive experience where you can walk through a mile loop path of unique light experience. It is available for all ages to visit now through January 8, 2023.
Make sure to also visit the best botanical gardens in Los Angeles in the daytime where you can see all the beautiful plants to fully appreciate the stunning colors and beauty of the gardens. Take a leisurely stroll through the themed gardens, inhale the fragrant scents of blooming flowers, and soak in the serene ambiance. Many gardens also offer guided tours, workshops, and events throughout the year, providing an opportunity to learn more about the plants and their history.

When exploring Enchanted Forest of Light, there are 10 different sections that feature a light and art installation that is each unique and beautiful.
It can take you anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes to walk through Enchanted Forest of Light. It took us an hour of walking around the different sections which included stops to take tons of pictures and videos and let the kids play and another 30 minutes to order drinks, sit around, and check out the gift shop.

I would recommend grabbing a hot drink that you can bring along on your walk to keep you warm. Food and drinks are available right after you enter the gates of Descanso Gardens and also at section 7 – Luminous Lawn, should you get hungry before even finishing the whole experience. Drinks are also available at section 4 – Lightwave Lake.

I ordered a Cafe Lato which is hot coffee with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream and topped with a cookie while the kids and the hubby each got hot cocoa. Cocktails are also available.

If you’ve never visited before, Enchanted Forest of Light is not a simple Christmas lights installation, more like a well-curated outdoor art/light experience.

My favorite was the wave of color-changing tulips, the stained glass houses, the glimmering trees, the sparkling geometric installations, and the big moon. Every section also has a different sound, it was like walking through a magical forest but really getting a relaxing massage with the spa sound playing lightly in each section.

Enchanted is also easy to navigate as there is a path and it is numbered from 1 to 10. I do recommend taking it easy and watching where you step as the pathway may be a little dark to really let the light installations take centerstage.
It’s also a nighttime outdoor event, so dress warmly as it can get really chilly. Bring gloves, a scarf, and a beanie, and definitely wear comfortable shoes.

Enchanted Forest of Light is family-friendly. Kids can walk through stained glass houses, walk around trees with color-changing lights when they step on them, play with interactive lit-up trees, and even sit on a color-changing bench.

It is impossible to describe everything we saw at the Descanso Gardens holiday event, it is something you really have to experience for yourself. It is a very unique experience both kids and adults can enjoy. Check out what our kids thought of Enchanted below.
What the pre-teen thought of Enchanted
I think the Enchanted Forest of Light was awesome. There were color-changing flowers, chairs, trees, lanterns, and a lot more. The lights can change if I press a button or spin a wheel. Even when I step on a light it changes colors!
Looking up at so many cool-looking colors and interactive rainbows was amazing. The colors looked so good in the dark, and there were a lot of places to explore! My favorite was maybe the color-changing tulips or the lights that changed if you touched them.

Another good one was the tunnel with a lot of lights hanging! While I think the best area there was the forest. The trees had colors! Color-changing lights sparkled around the trees, it was so cool to look at! The lights were amazing, I would definitely go there again.
What the grade-schooler thought of Enchanted
When I went to Enchanted Forest of Light, It was really cool because there were different sections and each section had a different kind of light-up! There were light-up colorful tulips and my family got to explore the great Enchanted Forest of Light. It was really awesome, and I really recommend this place! I even got to walk around with a hot chocolate, which was very delicious. There was also a food place so after looking around, you could grab some food.

When I went to Enchanted Forest of Light, I got to enjoy all the great lights. Like there were lit-up trees that I got to run around, as well as lit-up chairs. One of my favorites was the trees by the lake where when you press a button or stir a wheel, the lights changed into different colors! I thought this place is so cool.
You can bring your family and take some cool pictures! It was really worth it. I loved this place so much as it kept me entertained for hours. I did not get tired of the one-mile walk. It was legit! My family had an awesome time and so would your family so buy some tickets and have fun. Once again, I really recommend this place!
