Both LEGOLAND California Resort and LEGOLAND Florida Resort have on-site water parks. This guide breaks down practical LEGOLAND Water Park tips—what to bring, when to go to avoid crowds, and how to avoid common mistakes.

We’ve visited LEGOLAND Water Park several times—from when the kids were toddlers to now, when they’re big enough to enjoy the water slides. If this is your first time visiting, make sure to also read our Legoland California Tips to familiarize yourself with the theme park.
We have yet to visit the water park in Florida, though we have visited the theme park, but they are similar, so we’ve included tips for both locations. And if you can’t decide which to visit, check Legoland California VS. Florida for the comparison
LEGOLAND WATER PARK 2026 OPENING DATES
- California: Legoland Water Park – March 21, Chima Water Park (another section) – June 13.
- Florida: Legoland Water Park – February 14
23 LEGOLAND WATER PARK TIPS
In this guide, we share essential LEGOLAND Water Park tips to help families make the most of their day. From timing strategies and packing essentials to insider hacks and toddler tips, you’ll learn how to save time, avoid crowds, and enjoy all the attractions:
1. Buy Tickets in Advance
Try to get your tickets ahead of time if possible, as LEGOLAND can sell out for a specific day, especially during busy times like Spring Break or Summer Break. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it has. They usually announce on social media if they are already at capacity for a certain date.
To visit California, you need a Resort Hopper ticket, and in Florida, you’ll need a Multi-Park Ticket, to access the water park.
To save on admission, check Legoland Discount Tickets for a complete list of deals or use the following options:
Legoland California Discount
Plus tax and fees
- 1-Day Legoland Resort Hopper: from $109 (reg. $164)
- 2-Day Legoland Resort Hopper: from $149 (reg. $1204)
Legoland Florida Discount
Plus tax and fees
- 1-Day Multi-Park (Legoland + Water Park + SEA LIFE): from $99 (reg. $154)
- 2-Day Multi-Park (Legoland + Water Park + SEA LIFE): from $144 (reg. $199)
2. Check Operating Times & Go in Early
LEGOLAND Water Park has a shorter operating hours than the theme park. It usually opens about 30 minutes to an hour and a half later than the main theme park and closes an hour earlier than the theme park.

Legoland water park is usually less crowded early in the morning right after opening, and again about an hour before closing when most guests return to the theme park—making these the best times to visit if you want to avoid crowds.
For us, we try to arrive right when the theme park opens (usually 10 AM) so we can go on a few rides & grab a quick lunch at the theme park, then head to the water park right when it opens.
Most people would go to the water park midday, so you can enjoy fewer crowds and wait times if you go in early. Just make sure to check the hours, as it varies by date of visit.
If you’re trying to visit the new space-theme land LEGO Galaxy at the theme park, follow our tips for riding Galacticoaster to avoid lines. If we go this summer, we’d ride Galacticoaster, eat lunch, then head to the waterpark for 2-3 hours, exit the park to shower at Legoland Hotel or Castle Hotel, then go back to the theme park for more rides.
3. Go the Weekend after a Big Holiday Break
If you want to enjoy Legoland Water Park with lesser crowds, especially the slides and tube rides, try visiting Legoland Water Park after a big holiday or a 3-Day weekend.
Most people go to water parks during Memorial Day weekend, and we happened to had gone the weekend after, and really enjoyed very short lines and were able to keep going on the tube ride (Orange Rush) multiple times. We’d literally be like 3rd in line as a family whenever we go up for another slide.

4. Grab Lunch at the Theme Park or Eat Early at the Water Park
Plan where you’ll eat ahead of time (at the theme park or the waterpark) and try to go before the lunch rush, since the water park only has a few dining options, and one may be closed if it’s not peak season.
- Legoland California: Beach Front Grill & Beach Street Tacos (main water park), Wolves’ Den Grill (Chima Water Park)
- Legoland Florida: Beach‑N‑Bricks Grill, Beach Bar, Beach Street Bites

Depending on what time the water park opens during your visit, try to eat lunch at the theme park at 11 AM because sometimes there’s a long line to get food at the water park, or like during one of our visits, only one place was open, so the line took forever. On another visit, it was okay.
If it is still too early to eat at the theme park and you’re not hungry yet, then just go to the water park, but if possible, avoid the lunch rush to get your food, which is usually between 12 PM to 1 PM.
Check Legoland Food Options.
5. Bring Small Snacks and Bottled Water
You can bring bottled water and small snacks that don’t require heating or refrigeration to Legoland Water Park.
Additionally, any food required for medical purposes, medically-indicated nutritional supplements, food required for specific dietary needs, and baby food/baby formula are permitted. Items required for religious purposes are also allowed.

At Legoland Florida, certain coolers are allowed:

- Not Allowed: Soft-sided coolers larger than 8.5″ wide x 6″ high x 6″ deep
- Not Allowed: Hard-sided coolers
6. Rent a Locker
I HIGHLY recommend renting a locker to store your valuables like your phones, keys, wallets, and even your dry clothes, so you don’t have to lug them around the water park.
On one of our previous visits, we kept our bags in our kids’ stroller, and my daughter’s purse with her phone slipped off somehow. We didn’t know this until we were about to leave the water park. Full Panic Mode On!!!!

Luckily, we have the Find My app on my phone and were able to locate my daughter’s phone. Someone was kind enough to leave it at the Lost & Found right at the waterpark entrance. Thanks to the kind person who found and returned it.
After that stressful event, we always rent a locker now whenever we visit the water park.
- Legoland California Locker Location: Right when you enter LEGOLAND water park, you’ll see the lockers to your left, and around it are the changing rooms.
- Legoland Florida Locker Location: The lockers are located at the middle of the water park.
Note: If you are renting a cabana at Legoland California or Legoland Florida, it will come with a personal safe so you may no longer need to rent a locker.
7. Start with the Tube Slides and Lazy River
If you arrive early, before there is a crowd, try to go on the slides and lazy river, as you have to line up for those. Lines grow rapidly after noon, so ride these first.
- Legoland California: Build-A-Raft River, Orange Rush, Splash Out, & Twin Chasers
- Legoland Florida: Build-A-Raft Lazy River, Splash Out, & Twin Chasers

8. Legoland Water Park Toddler Tips
For toddlers, spend time at DUPLO Splash Safari (designed for kids 6 and under) and other small splash zones. These areas are safe, shallow, and fun for little ones but kids must be accompanied by an adult.

- Legoland California: DUPLO Splash Safari, DUPLO Splash Pad
- Legoland Florida: DUPLO Splash Safari
Strollers and buggies are welcome in the Water Park. However, designated stroller parking is not available, so plan accordingly during your visit.

Swim diapers are required for all children aged 3 and under while enjoying the LEGOLAND Water Park. If you forget, there’s a shop at the water park where you can buy them.
Only official Coast Guard approved life jackets with associated label attached are allowed at Legoland Water Park, if you want to bring one for your toddler/s. Life jackets are available for use within the Water Park free of charge in the Waterpark Guest Services on a first come, first served basis.

Note: Infant carriers are NOT allowed in water park pools.
9. Explore the Water Park
Be sure to explore the entire Legoland water park, as there’s often another attraction or hidden feature you might have missed. Guests usually go to the 1st water park attraction they see and stay there for a long time and forget to check out the other attractions.

Chima Water Park is a separate section within California’s LEGOLAND Water Park and opens later in the season. While most water attractions and the toddler area are in the main water park, Chima adds extra attractions, including our family’s favorite: the Lion Temple Wave Pool.
What’s at Chima Water Park:
- Cragger’s Swamp (Chima) – Water play area with slides and interactive features.
- Crooler’s Twist – Slide feature at Cragger’s Swamp.
- Crug’s Run – Slide for younger guests.

- Lion Temple Wave Pool (Chima) – Wave pool.
You don’t need a separate ticket to visit Chima Water Park in California, the LEGOLAND Resort Hopper ticket is all you need to visit both sections of the water park.

12. Check for Temporary Ride Closures
If you have a ride or attraction you are looking forward to trying, make sure it’s open when you visit. Check Legoland’s temporary ride closure announcement on the park’s website:
- Legoland California: Rides Closure
- Legoland Florida: Rides Closure
Please note that additional attractions may be closed without advance notice. The best place to check when you’re already at the park is via the Legoland app.

13. Rent a Cabana
There are beach chairs spread out across Legoland waterpark, and you can save them when you get there, but if you want some privacy, a shaded area to relax, store belongings, and have a host bring you your food, then renting a cabana would be great for your family.

Here are some of the perks of getting a cabana at Legoland Water Park:
- Enjoy host service for food and beverages
- Receive an exclusive tote bag, 2 Legoland souvenir towels, and water bottles
- Skip the hassle of looking for beach chairs
- Cabanas has a mini fridge

Legoland Florida also has a premium seating cabana. It is a queen-size cushioned lounger with canopy shade. It just does not come with a cabana hosts though so it does not include food or beverage service.
Note: Cabana selection is made on your day of visit on a first come, first serve basis. I recommend arriving close to Water Park opening time to check in early at the cabana windows located right outside the Water Park entrance.
14. Make Time for Build-A-Boat
Take a break from the swimming and get building. Legoland Water Park features a Build-A-Boat area where younger guests and their families can design and race their own boats. This hands-on water play activity is open to builders of all ages looking for creative & interactive water play.

16. Swimwear Rules
Due to the family nature of the LEGOLAND Water Park all guests are required to wear proper swimwear. Swimwear that is revealing or otherwise inappropriate for the environment is prohibited and may result in removal from LEGOLAND Water Park.
Proper swimwear is required on all attractions. Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, or metal ornamentation are not permitted. Wetsuits are permitted in the pool areas, but not on slides.
Guests are required to be fully clothed when entering and leaving LEGOLAND Water Park through LEGOLAND Florida. Swimwear alone is not permitted.
Any loose articles that may get damaged during the ride, such as hats or sunglasses. are not permitted.
17. Secure your Eyeglass or Sunglass with a Strap
Loose items are not allowed on water park slides at LEGOLAND, even if they are prescription, unless you secure them with an eyeglass strap. If the staff tells you it’s not allowed, pull your hair up to show your strap so they will allow you to use it down the slide.
If you don’t have one then just leave your eyeglass with your companion and make sure not to go up the slide with it or you’d have to go down again and lose your spot in the line.
18. Bring a Change of Clothes
Wearing bathing suits only is not permitted inside Legoland theme park. Guests must be fully clothed with proper foot attire when entering and leaving the Water Park. There are changing rooms available inside the Water Park.
19. Bring Water Shoes
Pavements tend to be hot, so bring water shoes or flip flops or Crocs, so you can easily go from one water park attraction to another.

Tip: There is a cubby to leave your shoes at the lazy river. Keep ypur shoe with you while you’re on the line so you don’t burn your feet and just drop off your shoes in the cubby when it’s already your turn to get on the lazy river.
Water shoes are allowed to be worn in the water park everywhere except on the water slides so leave it behind before going up the stairs to line up to any water slide.
20. Bring Sunscreen
Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours. Water washes it off quickly, and kids are prone to sunburn on shoulders, upper back, and ears.
If you forget, you can buy it at the store inside the water park or at vending machines around the park (spotted at Legoland California).

21. Bring a Waterproof Phone Case
If you want to take pictures while also swimming, bring a waterproof phone case.
22. Bring your Beach Towel
Towels are not provided or available for rent at LEGOLAND® Water Park for day guests. However, if you need one during your visit, beach towels are available for purchase at the water park’s store.
Legoland Hotel guests, however, get complimentary towel use:
- Legoland California: The waterpark does not provide guests with towels to visit the waterpark, but hotel guests are welcome to stop by the hotel pool to grab a towel before heading to the waterpark. Check the hotel pool hours ahead of time.
- Legoland Florida: Complimentary towels are available for LEGOLAND® hotel guests to use during their visit to LEGOLAND® Water Park. Show your hotel room key at the LEGOLAND Water Park Guest Services to receive your complimentary towels for the day. Return the towels to any Towel Return bin located inside the Water Park.

23. Book Legoland Hotel or Castle Hotel – Great for Post-Water Park Showers
We like booking a Legoland Hotel stay whenever we visit Legoland water park because we can take a full shower after a day at the water park and rest a bit before heading back to Legoland theme park for more rides. And as mentioned above, you can get a towel for use at the water park if you are a hotel guest.

LEGOLAND WATER PARK FAQS:
Is the water park included with LEGOLAND tickets?
Yes, Legoland water park is included if you buy a LEGOLAND Resort Hopper Ticket for LEGOLAND California or a Multi-Park Ticket for LEGOLAND Florida, not the LEGOLAND only ticket. You can choose 1-day or 2-day tickets.
Can I buy Legoland Water Park tickets only?
You cannot buy Legoland Water Park tickets only, as the Water Park is located inside the main LEGOLAND theme park. To access it, you’ll first enter the theme park, then walk toward the back, where the water park entrance is located. There, you’ll need to present your ticket again.
Can you do Legoland and the Water Park in one day?
You can visit both the Legoland theme park and water park in one day, but your visit will feel rushed, especially if it’s your first time and you want to do everything. Legoland usually closes at 5 or 6 PM, and a little later in California during the summer.
I recommend visiting Legoland for 2 days but if you can only visit for 1 day, consider getting a Fastrack for the theme park so you can skip the long lines and spend the rest of the time at the water park:
- Legoland California Fastrack: Bronze, Silver, or Gold Fastrack
- Legoland Florida Fastrack: Elite or Platinum Fastrack
Is there a Legoland Water Park Fastpass?
No, there is no fastpass for the water park attractions. You can get a Fastrack to skip the lines at Legoland theme park but it doesn’t apply to the waterpark, only to the theme park.
Can toddlers visit Legoland Water Park for FREE?
California: Toddlers cannot visit the water park for free. All toddlers (ages 12–23 months) can visit the theme park for free, but must have a paid admission ticket to enter the Water Park. Toddler tickets are available for purchase in person at Water Park Guest Services—no advance reservation is needed—and cost $5 each. However, Elite, Platinum, and Gold pass members receive one complimentary toddler ticket per pass.
Florida: Toddlers ages 12 – 23 months can visit the water park for free. No info on Legoland’s website indicates otherwise, as of writing.
Do I need a separate ticket for Chima Water Park?
No. You don’t need a separate ticket to visit Chima Water Park, which is another section of Legoland California Water Park that opens in the summer.
Are tickets included in hotel packages?
Yes, Legoland tickets are included in hotel packages and comes with Early Park Access, Nightly Entertainment, and Free breakfast as well. Check tip #23 above for Legoland Ticket + Hotel Package Discounts.
Are Legoland Water Park pools heated?
The water throughout the LEGOLAND Water Park is heated. At Legoland California, they specifically say it’s heated to approximately 80°F (27°C).
How Deep is the Water at Legoland Water Park?
Water depth varies by attraction. Here’s a quick guide for Legoland California:
- Lion Temple Wave Pool:
